Strategically built on the north shore of Tagus river, between 1514 and 1520, for the defense of Lisbon, it’s one of the jewels of the D.Manuel I reign’s architecture.

The Torre de Belém is a cultural reference, a symbol of the specific nature of the country that goes through the privileged dialogue with other cultures and civilizations. Guardian of Portugal’s Individuality and Universality, the monument has confirmed this status when, in 1983, it was classified by UNESCO as Humanity’s Cultural Heritage.

Closed: Mondays and on January 1st, Easter Sunday, May 1st, June 13th and December 25th .
